Transition Into Year 7
We are incredibly proud of our academy and cannot wait to welcome our new Year 7 students in September.
Starting secondary school is an exciting milestone, bringing new opportunities, friendships and experiences. We also understand that it can feel a little daunting. Please be reassured that supporting students through this transition is something we do exceptionally well. Our aim is to ensure that every child feels confident, prepared and fully part of our community from day one.
To help students settle successfully, we provide a comprehensive transition programme throughout the summer and into the start of the academic year.
Year 7 Transition Programme 2026/2027

Induction Day for Students Students spend the day at the academy getting a real feel for secondary school life. They will meet key staff, including their Hub Lead and tutors, experience a range of subject lessons, begin building relationships with their peers and learn key routines and expectations |

Parents' Welcome Evening Parents and carers are invited to meet senior leaders and the pastoral team, leanr more about academy life, expectations, routines and support systems ahead of September |

Attendance Pack Parents will receive information about the importance of school attendance and punctuality, and the key contacts for this at the academy. Starting secondary school and supporting your child's attendance |

Year 7 Summer School A fun and supportive programme designed to help students build confidence, make friends and prepare for a successful start in Year 7 |
| 7 September 2026 |
Year 7's First Day at the Academy Only Year 7 and Year 12 students will be in the academy on this day, allowing them to settle in, learn routines and become familiar with the school in a calm and supportive environment. |

Year 7 Parent Check-In An informal opportunity for parents and carers to meet the Year 7 pastoral team, share feedback and discuss how their child is settling into academy life. |

Year 7 Parents - Meet the Tutor - Online Meetings An opportunity for parents and carers to meet remotely with their child's form tutor to discuss their transition into the academy. |
| 5 & 9 October 2026 |
Year 7 Visit Haberdashers' Hall Students will visit the headquarters of the Haberdashers' Company to learn more about its history and the important connection to our family of schools. |

Hub Team-Building Afternoon Students will take part in a team-building programme delivered through PE. This is designed to strengthen friendships, develope teamwork skills and foster a strong sense of belonging |
