Year 9 Options 2021-22
Year 9 Option Evening 30th March
Having studied at Crayford Academy for three years, it is now the opportunity for year 9 students to choose the subjects they would like to study at Key Stage 4. We offer a broad and balanced curriculum ensuring study of the traditional academic core but also offering career defining and creative subjects to prepare students for the next steps in their educational and vocational journey. We are aware that we are preparing students for future careers that don’t currently exist as well as the more traditional and well-known occupations and with that in mind, we believe that our curriculum offer will improve our students’ future life chances.
This is an exciting step in each student’s education and one for which they need to be fully informed. As you are aware, students would usually attend an Options Evening and subject teachers would discuss the GCSE or BTEC that they are offering and answer any questions. As that unfortunately could not be the case, we have prepared videos by each of your subject teachers, detailed power points and this Curriculum Booklet to give you as much information as possible.
As you watch these videos and discuss the subjects together, we encourage students to choose subjects that they enjoy, and also to carefully consider which subjects they perform best in and which they may need for potential career paths. Subject choices should NOT be made on which teacher may be delivering the subject or what a student’s friends have chosen as both of these could change.
The link to the options form will appear here after the options evening on Tuesday 30th March 2021.
You will see that the survey allows you to put your first, second and third choices in each Option Block to allow some flexibility within allocation of choices. We will endeavour to provide each student with their first choice but this may not always be possible depending on numbers of students selecting each subject. Please ensure that you do fill in a first, second and third choice – completing only a first choice will not guarantee that subject being allocated and may then mean an alternative is selected that the student would not have wanted. Please complete the survey by 4pm on Tuesday 20th April.
I hope that the information we have provided will help the students to make informed choices. If you have any queries, please email email@example.com and a member of staff will be more than happy to help.
